Sunday Sips: Hong Kong’s The Globe and 8 Wired Brewing Co. Tap Takeover

This giraffe has been lucky enough to travel the world for business including regular trips to Hong Kong for the past few years. First question I get asked when I tell people I am going: “What do you do while you are there?” Many people spend their off time shopping, sightseeing or just relaxing at the hotel. Not I! My mission each trip is to find a new craft beer spot or taste. This has been relatively easy to achieve lately as Hong Kong is quickly embracing the craft beer revolution. My most recent trip last month included a visit to an old mainstay, The Globe.

Can you see me?

Self described as a British Gastro Pub, The Globe is located in Hong Kong’s bustling Central neighborhood and features a list of 80-100 craft beer bottles from around the world as well as 10+ rotating taps. The night I visited, I discoverd they were hosting a  tap takeover from New Zealand’s 8Wired Brewery and I was lucky enough to be the first recipient of the tasting flight!

First 4 up!
iWired Stout
My favorite, the iStout.

This wasn’t my first time trying 8Wired Brewing and the tasting flight did not disappoint. The iStout is a bottle that I pick up most trips to HK and I recently discovered their fabulous Saison Sauvin as well so I was happy to see these two on the menu. As far as The Globe, I’ve never had the food here but I can always count on finding a new beer to sample along with a friendly and knowledgeable staff!

Cheers!
